BlackGuard
Often characterized by selfish motivations and sadistic methods, blackguards take the durability of a Vanguard and use it to fight dirty.
Selfish Defense
Starting when you make this covenant at 3rd level, you swear to serve no master but yourself. You may Dash or Disengage as a bonus action on your turn.
Lore of Disease
Also at 3rd level, you are no stranger to poisons and malaise. You do not take any damage or penalty from diseases. You can still contract diseases and spread them to others, but you are otherwise immune to their effects. You have advantage on saving throws against being poisoned.
Craven Strike
Starting at 6th level, you play dirty. When you hit a creature with an attack, you can expend a focus die to attempt a cheap shot. The target must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or suffer a grievous wound. At the start of each of its turns while it suffers from this wound, the target loses hit points equal to one roll of your Focus die, and it suffers an additional effect according to the nature of the wound:
-Malignant Strike Your strike is laced with powerful venom and disease. The target is poisoned while it suffers from this wound.
-Hemorrhaging Strike Your strike causes profuse bleeding. If a spell or effect would restore hit points to a creature while it is suffering from this wound, that creature suffers a penalty to the hit points regained equal to your proficiency bonus + Charisma Mod. This wound immediately closes if the creature receives any healing, but if this effect reduces the hit points regained to 0, the wound remains open.
-Apostate Strike Your strike is infused with a profane curse. The target loses all damage resistances while it suffers from this wound. A creature affected by your Craven Strike can repeat its saving throw at the beginning of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success.
You can only afflict a creature with one Craven Strike effect per round, and a creature cannot be affected by two Craven Strike effects at once. The save DC of your Blackguard features is 8 + your Charisma modifier + your proficiency bonus.
Aura of Cowardice
Also at 6th level, you radiate a malignant and demoralizing aura. As a reaction when a creature within the radius of your Timely Aid feature makes a saving throw, you can expend and roll a Focus die to impose a penalty on the save equal to the result of the roll.
Mixed Blessing
Starting at 11th level, Suffering is gain, and mercy is a means to an end. Whenever a creature takes damage due to an effect from your Craven Strike, you regain hit points equal to half the damage dealt, rounded down. Additionally, at the start of your turn you may immediately end the effects of your Craven Strike on creatures within the radius of your Timely Aid feature. When you do, you regain 1 Focus die for each effect ended in this way.
Master of Cruelty
At 17th level, You specialize in enhancing the suffering of your foes. Whenever you hit a creature already affected by your Craven Strike with an attack, the attack deals additional damage equal to one roll of your Focus dice, and the creature has disadvantage on its next saving throw against your Craven Strike effect. Additionally, creatures can be affected by multiple instances of your Craven Strike at once, but cannot suffer the same type of wound more than once at a time.
