Spell Strike

Effect

The most basic and versatile of attack spells. Mages tend to refer to this spell by different names depending on the damage type chosen:
  • Acid Splash (Acid)
  • Ember (Fire)
  • Ice Dart (Cold)
  • Lightning Arc (Lightning)
  • Mage Arrow (Piercing)
  • Mage Hammer (Bludgeoning)

    Base Difficulty: Easy (1)
    Concentration: No
    Skill: War Magic
    Range: Short (not Engaged)
    Effect: Damage equal to caster's Intellect + 1 per uncancelled Success. The caster chooses whether the spell deals Acid, Bludgeoning, Cold, Fire, Lightning, Piercing, or Slashing damage before attempting the magic check. This spell has no Critical rating, and can only inflict a Critical Injury by spending a Triumph.

  • Blast: The spell gains the Blast quality with a rating equal to the caster's ranks in Knowledge (Thaumaturgy).
  • Close Combat: May select a target engaged with the caster.
  • Range: Increase the range of the spell by one range band. This may be added multiple times, increasing the range by one range band each time.
  • Volley: The spell gains the Auto-Fire quality.
  • Empowered: The spell deals damage equal to twice the caster's Intellect + 1 per uncancelled Success. If the spell has the Blast quality, it affects all characters within short range, instead of engaged.
