Saber Cat

Though leopards, tigers, lions, and other large cats prowl warm and temperate lands, the mighty saber cat stands as one of the most fearsome predators of Ispar's colder regions.  Five feet tall at the shoulder and weighing almost 800 pounds, the saber cat is a stocky hunter with fangs as long as daggers and large paws for traveling on ice and snow.  Hunting alone or in small groups, these massive felines prefer rocky regions or glaciers where they can spring on unsuspecting prey from an elevated position.   The Silveran hold saber cats to be holy animals, and avoid killing them except to defend their tribes or during ritual hunts.  The great cats' bones are carved with breathtaking rune epics, and their namesake fangs are crafted into ceremonial daggers.  Such weapons are rarely used in battle, but are passed down through family lines and regarded as sacred heirlooms.
