Careers and Archetypes
Careers in Asheron's Call work a little differently than in the core Genesys rules. You select a career, as normal, but your career grants you only six career skills. Each career has several archetypes associated with it. After selecting your career, you then choose one archetype associated with that career, and the archetype grants you three additional career skills (for a total of nine).For example, the warrior princess Derowen might choose the Warrior career and the Knight archetype; her final list of career skills would be Athletics, Coercion, Discipline, Leadership, Riding, Survival, Vigilance, and any two Combat skills of her choice (for the sake of example, she would choose Melee and Ranged).
Mage
Core Career Skills: Alchemy, Cool, Discipline, Knowledge (Lore), Knowledge (Thaumaturgy), and one Combat skill of your choice. Archetypes: Choose one of the following. The listed skills are considered career skills for you.- Creature Mage (Enchanter): Charm, Creature Magic, Riding
- Item Mage (Artificier): Item Magic, Mechanics, Perception
- Life Mage: Life Magic, Medicine, Resilience
- Shaman: Medicine, Survival, any one Magic skill
- Sorcerer: Any three Magic skills
- Void Mage (Necromancer): Deception, Resilience, Void Magic
- War Mage: Coercion, Resilience, War Magic
Socialite
Core Career Skills: Charm, Cool, Deception, Negotiation, Vigilance, and one Combat skill of your choice. Archetypes: Choose one of the following. The listed skills are considered career skills for you.- Charlatan: Coercion, Skulduggery, Streetwise
- Courtier: Knowledge (Society), Leadership, Riding
- Demagogue: Coercion, Discipline, Leadership
- Entertainer: Coordination, Discipline, Streetwise
Tradesperson
Core Career Skills: Discipline, Knowledge (Society), Negotiation, Perception, Resilience, and Streetwise. Archetypes: Choose one of the following. The listed skills are considered career skills for you.- Alchemist: Alchemy, Knowledge (Thaumaturgy), Medicine
- Farmer: Athletics, Riding, Survival
- Sage: Knowledge (Lore), Knowledge (Thaumaturgy), Medicine
- Smith: Athletics, Mechanics, one Combat skill of your choice
Vagabond

- Kingpin: Coercion, Leadership, Negotiation

Warrior
