Nephris

“Nephris doesn’t want to be found. That’s why it never screams.”

Nephris is the most enigmatic of the five known Ancient Super Cities. It is completely submerged, cloaked in darkness, and hidden by a sophisticated illusion field that prevents conventional detection.

It was not discovered by accident, but through years of cryptic analysis, spatial triangulation, and desperate theorizing by Shinryu scholars working from Necrovia data. Entry was only achieved through arcane teleportation, and the methods remain state-secret.

What little is known of Nephris has been released with extreme caution: it too, like the others, has fallen.

Architecture & Access

  • No external light sources or architectural markers
  • Entire city appears as a visual void to modern scanning techniques
  • No ships or submersibles have successfully docked or entered
  • Entry was first achieved by Shinryu’s court mage through teleportation tests, reportedly involving human subjects

Threat Level & Phenomena

  • No confirmed necrotic sightings, though presence is presumed
  • Lacks energy surges or defense systems seen in other cities
  • Volcanic and tectonic activity around Nephris is strangely minimal

Cultural Reputation

Nephris is the least spoken of and least understood of the cities. It occupies a mythic space more than a real one — a thing whispered about by scholars and avoided by sailors.

To most of the world, it is:

  • A forgotten place
  • A name without meaning
  • A shadow too deep to shine a light into
