Rurik (a.k.a. the Troublemaker)

The leader of the Rus', or "men-who-row", Rurik is a Viking of Swedish origin
In 862 he took advantage of the internal struggles of the tribes around Ladoga, arriving first as a mercenary only to conquer and establish the strong Norse realm of Holmgardr in the east.
