The Gardener's Inspiration

The Spark of Inspiration

Before there was time, there was everything and there was nothing all at once: featureless but complete in the timeless whorl. This primeval sea was called Tehom. A being emerged with the Spark of Inspiration: The Gardener, bringer of order. The absence of The Gardener’s orderly essence left a gap which only violent Chaos could fill, and from it emerged another. They had no need for names but were called The Tumult. Tumult relished in disarray, creating titanic playthings from the ether to watch them unleash havoc before spiraling in self-destruction, born to tear and be torn asunder.

The Birth of the Sighted Twins

The Gardener despised the din and fury, and with their twelve arms they sought to organize the cosmos. They also knew to keep watch on Tumult. With a hammer in one arm, They shaped the raw stuff of existence and spoke the command of creation into it. Thus was born The Scout: a partner with the heads of an eagle and vulture with powerful eyes that could see far across the cosmos in every direction.   They soared off to encircle and protect The Garden. But as quickly as the spark of thought flickered inside them, the two birds began to peck one another's eyes and plunged down through the skies until The Scout tore itself in two, becoming The Sighted Twins, Mystra and Shar.

Concordant Opposition

The Gardener's labor continued. With Their Sickle, they gathered up the elements into spheres: Earth, Fire, Air, and Water. They held them at the perfect distance with four arms, and then used Their Sickle to sort the fundamental forces: Law, Chaos, Good, and Evil. They held these in balance, too, and all things were in Concordant Opposition. At the heart of it all, The Gardener created Sylvane, a place combining them all, and a gift for The Twins to be watched over by the third child, Silvanus. It was the perfect Garden: gathered with Their Sickle, shaped with Their Hammer, protected with Their Sword, and held together by Their Strength.
