Thaveus Character in Arvor | World Anvil

Thaveus

(a.k.a. The Weavemaster)

Thaveus was a powerful elven archmage of great renown throughout Arvor. In arcane circles, Thaveus was called The Weavemaster, as he demonstrated a level of proficiency with the arcane magic of The Weave that was unparalleled by other mortals. Thaveus died during The Cataclysm leading a legion of magi in a failed attempt to stop the ascendance of Asmodeus.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Thaveus was a highly accomplished wizard, performing tremendous feats across the world. A single one of his many libraries was enough to establish the Great Eastern Library in Vantage, the most extensive library in the world.

Spells

His legacy is perhaps most evident in the spells he is credited with creating, especially in the schools of conjuration and transmutation.
  • Demiplane
  • Gate
  • Mighty Fortress
  • Private Sanctum
  • Sequester

Chronomancy

Thaveus was also renowned as a pioneer of Chronomancy, the manipulation of time. Very little remains of his work in this area, and since Mystra's restoration in the Great Spring, this class of magic has been hindered by divine forces.

Elven High Magic

Elven high magic was a form of ritual magic created by ancient elves, and possibly performed exclusively by them. This old magic enabled feats unheard of today, including the creation of new realms and worlds. Thaveus was a skilled practitioner in this tradition as well. Some evidence of these feats remains today, including his tower in Tiernas, which was ripped from our plane and shunted into extradimensional space.
