Lead by the elusive Raven Queen, every member of the Shadar Kai elves seek to serve her in hopes of restoring her to her former power.
History
The Shadar Kai were initially a group of eladrin from the Feywild. Their leader, the Raven Queen, was locked in a war with the Unseelie fae that threatened her people. She sought to ascend to Godhood in order to gain the power necessary to defeat them, and her followers began gathering their strength to channel into her. Halfway through the ritual, the Raven Queen discovered that a number of her followers were secretly channeling the energy into themselves instead, and unleashed a curse upon them. This curse warped her transformation and banished her and her followers into the Shadowfell. The eladrin became pale and some bore physical scars from the event. The Raven Queen herself was greatly changed, as Lolth used the chaos to remove her from existence on the mortal plane. She currently exists as fragments of thoughts and concepts. The Shadar Kai travel the Shadowfell, seeking out tragedy and taking tokens from it to give to the Raven Queen in order for her to rebuild her physical form. These tokens may include sentimental objects, remnants of death or even the souls of those touched by tragedy.
Territories
The Shadar Kai are the largest ruling organisation in Shadowfell, owning the large city of Evernight. However, their reign has been contested by the Silverblood family. They have taken control of many of the mortal settlements, and though they have not made any aggressive moves towards the elves themselves, they are considered a threat by the Shadar Kai.

The Shadar Kai worship the Raven Queen as a god.
