Jumping Birds

Career

Qualifications

In order to qualify to become training as a Jumping Bird one needs to have been either born with magic or have an extremely high magical potential. Not every person can become a Bird. After being recognized as fitting the magic potential requirement one needs to be of perfect health, have graduated high school with a grade equivalent of B+ or an A as well as the introductory training camp for Birds with a grade of at least C+. The person needs to have an open mind, be ready to experience rapid environment changes and cultural differences, to be proficient with the most basic of weapons and to have a very strong sense of responsibility and loyalty to the organization.

Career Progression

After getting accepted in the Jumping Birds training program (aptly named "Flying Lessons") and in the period of five years getting the specific education needed and the physical and mental training necessary, the "Hatchlings" are then paired with one or a team of few professionals to partner and assist to for a year of on-field work and getting used to all the technicality, terminology and the stress of multi-dimension travelling.
In the end of that year there is an exam that is set for the entire "baby flock" where they are divided into two teams and sent into the somewhat controlled environment of a known world where a local gives both teams the same task
for example: Both teams meat this elven wood-carver who asks them to go into a specific forest and retrieve a certain tree's branches for and item to be made. But that tree's the home of a creature with difficulty-of-beating in the middle numbers.
and the members of the team that retrieves the final item first are promoted to Jumping Birds. The other team gets another year of "Assistant" work and then tries again.

Perception

Purpose

Jumping Birds go through already established portals to different worlds, realities and dimensions and study the other side with all its languages, cultures and possibilities for connections with the main world net of Forice. They are responsible for keeping portals save and intact from possible forces that might will to overtake and control them as well as for anything malevolent that might want to go through them. In extreme cases Jumping Birds are those who have the ability and right to destroy an existing portal in order to maintain safety for the "Homeworld" that Terra has become.

Payment& reimbursement

Anyone who qualifies for the Jumping Birds training program starts receiving 250Le per month (which is equal to the payment of teenagers who take on playing games as a job). Should they decide they want to quit in the first 2 years of the "Flying Lessons" they don't need to reimburse for the time they have spent. However if they are in their fifth year and want to suddenly stop it all they have to pay the organization 6000Le.

Once a person graduates as a Jumping Bird and is officially accepted as such their starting payment-per-mission becomes 1500Le and anything on top of that varies depending on difficulty. A "Go and see if this world is anything similar to Terra" can pay the Bird taking it 7000Le + 700Le they receive as eventual expenses if the world is an inhabited one that supports trade.

Worst Case Scenario
If the worst happens and someone dies during a mission, their family is provided with all the help to retrieve the body in the most intact state possible and is given the full amount of payment the Bird has deserved for ALL their years of service. (Meaning including the years they have already been paid for.)
