Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Brooks looks and feels mostly human. She's quite tall for her age (and she'll grow a bit more before stopping) and her hair is longer than any normal human's. She's swift and very agile, not the first and best in P.E. but definitely among the best 5 to finish any game or competitive sport. She loves accepting physical activities as challenges and would take on them with her signature huge perfect smile (which, btw, has only seen a dentist once in her lifetime and that dentist was surprised and fascinated by how healthy and perfect her chompers are) and always go for "The important thing is not to win but to participate".

There are a few things that others can see in Brooks but she cannot - physical changes in her looks - when she's in a certain mood or simply hyperfocused on solving a mystery.

When she concentrates and gets serious, when her smile disappears, when someone's made her either incredibly sad or angry, or even just made her sink deep in thought, her hair will lift off in the air, become light and soft and turn into mist around the edges. In those moments, should she change location and light sources around herself, her usually lovely brown-orange eyes would start sparking red (not glowing red, just sparking - like small embers in a dark night) and her nose would turn faintly more red - as if sunburned. The line that is the cheekbone and the lower jaw would also get darker and if the seriousness deepens even more - under the skin along the cheek and jaw - small fiery spiderwebs would creep in - eventually connecting and outlining the skull in those zones.

Fortunately nobody has ever seen her in that angry or sad state so far. Hopefully nobody ever will. But who knows?

Apparel & Accessories

Brooks really enjoys mixing and matching her outfits to be retro, classy and only ones she likes. She has a fascination and love for the swing dresses, polka dots and capri and cigarette pants of what we call "American 50s". She'd match them with golden jewelry (especially her beloved Taurus necklace which was a gift from Vivianne), dark leather belts and bags and earrings (or often just one) in the combined brown & gold look for "a complete set" look.

Another thing that highly inspired her in her growing up and forming her style with clothing were films noir, (especially the detective kind) and their femmes fatales as well as flapper girls and some elements of Victorian and Steampunk fashion.

Personal history

Brooks was brought to the "White Lady of the Woods" by her father, who asked the ladies accepting the baby to not reveal who he is. He gave Bradley as the name of the child and said he doesn't want to do this but (she'd) be safer growing up away from him for as long as possible.

As the child grew up in the orphanage, her dad was always observing her even from the far place he was hiding in. In 2012 when a fire with origins still unknown to this day, burned down the building he was the one who took care to have all children and staff safely evacuated and then - adopted.
 Shortly after Brooks was taken in by the Rains her father had to stop looking in on her as he realized that the ones who were after him could catch on the connection and harm the child if they find her as a weakness. So for years she was experiencing all the joys and sad moments of living among the humans.

During this time Brooks dicovered that the one way to see herself was to have her photos taken so that she can look at her own face on paper or screen. Through her brother Sean she discovered a Vivianne Morena - photographer for the biggest and most luxurious fashion magazine in all of Rockdoors - and had him arrange a meeting where Brooks charmed her way into model auditions for one of the next big photoshoots.
She started going to Underwater Magic Academy "Trismegist" and alongside knowledge, friends and music she also discovered a dark blue and somehow always grumpy merman that at first did attract her attention more like a mystery and nothing more.

Kyper, her bandmate, became almost an obsession - she wanted to know him, to know what's going on with him, why he looks the way he does, why he's always in a bad mood, and most importantly - why wouldn't he notice her attempts to impress him.At the time Brooks didn't know that Kyper's foster sister had recently passed away and he wasn't able to decide how to cope with what he felt. In an attempt to understand this sneakily - creeping crush, the young Rain first talked to another member of the band whom he'd been ignoring - their singer Marnie. She did tell Brooks that she suspects Kyper's being cold to her as she looks a lot like Samantha - his foster sister. 
Having learned the reason, Brooks went to the Scepter family home with a handmade gift showing her appreciation and respect for Samantha as she was one of the biggest names around school, one of the best Guards, youngest of Reapers, teen prodigy in merfolk magic and culture and the one responsible for the possibility of peaceful communication with deepwater merfolk and deepwater merfolk youth to enter and attend U.M.A.
Brooks then went to Kyper's room and refused to leave until the two talked face to face. 

The result of that was a memorial sculpture of Samantha in the school graveyard and Kyper's eyes and heart recognizing what he'd been missing this entire time.

This brings us to the last few years when the two have officially started dating, Brooks finally asked the Rains to help her find where she comes from and the leads - through easily finding a copy of the letter organizing the adoption of the children from the orphanage, talking to the once-staff and teachers from the "White Lady" and also asking Mayor Thundrall what he might know - all pointed to the town of Fogfalls.

Education

When she was brought up in the "White Lady of the Woods" orphanage, Brooks was one of the kids who would prefer to stay inside and read - be it the homework the teachers there gave them or just a random book from the well-kept library.
She enjoyed spending time with the teachers and adults who would tend to the gardens - this developped her love for plants of any all kinds and the care for them. Being around them she picked on extra knowledge - such as French and Latin, which were not necessary for other kids to learn but the Languages teacher saw the spark of talent in the blue haired (then) introvert kid and would give her private lessons. She also learned to play the piano and helped in the children's choir.
After the orphanage burned down from a mysterious fire in 2012 Brooks was taken in by the Rains - a family of two parents, a boy her age and an older brother - and they connected in the matter of hours, becoming inseparable. They were the ones who helped with her transition to her true form as well as signing her up to study in the Underwater Magic Academy "Trismegist" - a place where her already blooming interests grew up into A+ marks in Botany, music band member and keyboard player, the one student with the most languages learned - a total of 12 for five years AND one of the Academy's representative faces as she became a fashion model in the meantime as well.

Likes & Dislikes

• Likes ♥♥♥ - roller skating, gardening, rabbits, especially black ones, experimenting with foods (as in eating them - she's somewhat picky on what she'd eat and can only cook basic things), hanging out with friends, shooting for the magazine, Kyper, showing off, playing with the band, reading, solving crimes and mysteries, shopping for clothes and/or books and/or jewwelry and accessories. Likes iced latte, Viennese coffee and dark chocolate mocha; tries eating healthy and avoids thick and heavy meats - like pork, lamb, etc. She'd always prefer either some kind of fish or chicken as meat, a lot of salads and whole-seed bread ( and variants of bread) and she'd take her pineapple on pizza just in some cases. With the right other toppings. Also she LOVES bowling. 

• Dislikes :( :( :( - being cold, bikes, parrots, most country music, being ignored, green tea, black tea, caricature of any kind, long TV shows /anime or live action/, "Chinese" dragons (what we call Chinese dragons, the long ones. There's no China on Terra for lots of reasons but this IS one), pedicure, massages, alcohol, people who just hate for the sake of hate and spill venom everywhere, to be gifted flowers in bouquets. Prefers to be given either potted plants or assorted seeds. Also doesn't like crosswords, the idea of coffins, baths and jacuzzis - finds them a waste of time; carbonated/fizzy/sparkling water and mint ice cream.

Vices & Personality flaws

Sometimes Brooks can come out as a bit insensitive and rude - her positive outlook and constant attempts to make others smile could be found as intrusive especially by more sheltered introverted people - like what she used to be before "coming out of her shell". 

 Her "poking to solve mysteries" could be seen as being nosy - and sometimes too nosy in the wrong places. She HAS been in trouble sometimes but thankfully she can fight.

 She can be stubborn and stand for her decisions - which sometimes can be a bad thing because if  - for example - on a photoshoot's set there's only carbonated water and nothing else to drink, even if it's a very expensive and important job, Brooks would just decline and go home. OR she'd refuse to go to make-up until they get her her normal water.

Being Transgender

was not really a realization Brooks had to go through. For what she is - the species of being she doesn't even still know - when she would try to look at herself in the mirror in those first years - before the Transitioning Program - it would be like trying to see yourself through a veil of water or thin mist - blurry, unclear, no details possible for the eye to define.

When the Rains adopted her and she broke into tears one morning and told them that she just wants to see her face, they - behind her back initially - consulted a Magical Species General Doctor, who explained to them that there are rumours of fog elves existing on the borders of some worlds that might biologically start their life as something they really aren't - "they'd call it a shell" - and they might need help breaking out of that shell in order to funcion normally in life.

After telling Brooks that information, they were the ones who suggested signing her up for a Transitioning Program: A special magical program where in the span of a longer period of time one is to take a special pill and be on a specific diet which would result in no surgery, no hard intervention natural gender transitioning.
Brooks had to wait a couple of years to be accepted in that program but she finally got in in 2017. As of July 2022 she's a completely changed, fully transitioned woman who can go to the mirror in the morning and actually see her gorgeous self.


Currently the pesky "Bradley" is only on her official ID card - which is to be changed in two years.
