Atlantis

History

The city of Atlantis was already there when Anniton - City of the First Ones was created and the historical timeline for Terra was settled as a starting year 0. Thus, when people settled into a number of continents and created a few cities to start with, they eventually established contact with local merfolk. For a period of 50 years there was a strange not-war going on between the new creatures living on the planet and the old inhabitants represented by the merfolk. After those years a truce was made that merfolk is to be respected and not hunted and that any "guest" can visit and get to know life underwater as much as they wish.

In 1359y. The Underwater Magic Academy (U.M.A.) Trismegist was created as a show of welcoming people and any land-walking beings into the world of waters and merfolk magic. That was also when the enchanted mini starfishes were presented as means of turning oneself into a merperson or into human. Ever since the school has produced many strong leaders, creators and keepers of that precious peace between the species.

Points of interest

Some of the main things that attract the attention of more "tourist" type visitors are the well-maintained parks of Atlantis, the royal palace, the outer terraces and the big markets.
  • The parks are numerous and each one is different from the rest even though they do grow a lot of the same plants. Each park has a selection of corals which differ their colors and shapes according to what temperatures, amount of light and other specific conditions they need. Aside from corals the parks also have underwater willows, Atlantean Appleboom trees, Sparkleaf trees which stick out with their broad crowns of yellow and orange wide leaves and electric green blossoms in the warmer summer currents, many other smaller trees, a wide variety of shrubbery, flowers and grass is all the shades of blue. Funnily enough the parks do have fountains - even though they don't emit water - as well as street lamps, gazebos of wrought iron in the most intricate details as well as small ponds that house some unique fishes and duck species for which the normal amount of water doesn't seem to be enough.
  • The Royal Palace is located on the perfect center of Atlantis and the exterior of the building shines in nacreous coats, embellished with pure gold, decorated with diamonds, with high climbing towers carying tall stained glass windows that shimmer and shine in the depths whenever sun decides to peek through the layers. The Palace is surrounded by guards that wear golden armors with decorations in the style of the the main Palace as well as blue sparkly gemstones.
  • The outer terraces are huge stages almost "floating" by the outside bubble that keeps the city protected. Every one of those "stages" has a small decorative statue in the center and a lot of benches all the way around - during big events or just for the casual sightseeing  - one can sit and enjoy the view.

Related Tradition (Primary)
The city of Atlantis is still lived in and still in development. It's known as The Meeting Zone as merfolk from all underwater levels can get there - due to its convenient location - and meet. Deepwater merfolk need to spend at least three weeks in Atlantis if they want to proceed further up and out of the water as the change in the pressure is dangerous even for their sturdy bodies.
