Merinawan (ˈmer-ˈri-nȯ-ˈwən)
The water runneth dry and they running onward despite it.
Merinawans are well known travellers and overprotective defenders of those around them, this leaves them as seen as both dependable, worldly, and particularly vicious to the enemies who'd seek to steal their home from them once again.
Physical Description: Merinawans are relatively bulky bipedal reptilians, known for rugged hides with layered scales. Their arms, legs, head, and tail are often covered in thorny spikes and horns so as it deincentivize attackers from targeting their limbs. Their scales often come in a wide variety of patterns though brown and green patterns are more common though it is not unheard of to see tiger stripe patterns or red or blue scaled merinawans depending, as spreading out and travel has provided the ability need camouflauge much less over the centuries. They have sharp, yet small sharpened teeth and fangs that are hidden under scaled small lips and a strong facial features such as a sturdy jaw and a furrowed brow. Their horns and thorns that rest on their head most commonly in the shape of a small crowned array of horns and often a hardened nose horn though this is often just thicker scales and carapace then a true horn. Their digitigrade feet lack the ability to remain comfortable in most footwear and instead is often covered by greaves, sandals, or footless leggings, as their leg spikes can make wearing more flowing clothing difficult, however, their foot claws are often stubby or dull due to constant wear from movement. Inversely, they bear sharp claws on their hands that while somewhat similar to reptilian talons, are far smaller and curve less to assist with closing their fists and to pick up items, with exception to their thumb in which the nail has become dull and short to proeprly rest in their palm. Their tail continues from their spine, quickly bending backwards without a joint from their legs and is usually heavy enough to rest along the ground, as their back transforms into their tail smoothly and lack any other notable features along their back, as the tail replaces their rearhind.
Society: Merinawan society is very splintered, due to a lack of a current main homeland and the long term effects of lacking any main hub for their people. Despite this, merinawans are quite socialble among eachother, often talking about places they've found and how viable it'd be as a place for other merinawans to live and take shelter at, sharing this information and often trading it like a resource. It's believed the primary intent for this is merinawans have an instinctual desire to find a new home for their kind, but have often shown contentment in other places they have found and often seek to reinforce places that are homes of others as well. When merinawans do interact more romantically among themselves, they do not have pairing mates and simply lay eggs and fertilize them as necessary, being more a communal people then a familial one. It is often chosen based on preference who cares after the eggs when eggs are laid.
Relations: Merinawans are a relatively socialable sort, willing to integrate and assist many settlements and groups they become a part of. When one does, their desire to protect their new home is often violently fierce and they show an intense willingness to ensure such endangerment of those around them does not occur again. Their defensiveness of their neighbours and friends often leave a misconception that merinawans are particularly vicious when in truth the loss of their original home has left many to be raised to be quite motivated to protect those they consider important to their everyday life, while this may leave some, such as humans somewhat unnerved, it leaves them quite liked by alin and dwarves alike. Merinawans are als known for relatively good decision making due to their ability to read the stars as necessary.
Beliefs and Religion: Merinawans primarily worships gods of hearth, community, and stars, seeing as these are the three most important things in their views. As such, since most merinawans are within the brigandine, they follow kandor sol and similar gods but a select few choose to worship the watcher instead even is such a thing would be viewed poorly. Aside from this, merinawans have no particular leanings on their views as a whole.
Adventurers: Merinawans are well known for nomadic practices until they find a place they gain interest in settling down in, and as such commonly have a part of their life where they wonder as a vagabond or adventurer. Their overall bulk allows them to safely fulfill many roles in the front-line as well as leave them as an individual in the backline few need to worry about needing to help.
