Ikati (ˈē-ˌkät-ˈē)

Gambling on one's claws often results in the need for them.

The lithe and assertive ikati are one of the many feline members of the brigandine, their reflexes and assuredness often leading them to success just as often into trouble.   Physical Description: Overall smaller then humans and similarly sized creature, the ikati are a lithe and agile humanoid with feline characteristics. Their bodies often have a thin veil of fur in large patches, differing per ikati, some having a furred head, others their limbs or chest or even just their back. These often come in a wide variety of patterns often in browns, blacks, grays, and whites. Bearing many features similar to felines, the ikati's most notable features end up being their slit pupils and pointed, furred ears, as well as their notable tail, which is often heavily furred and can reach all the way up their back. Their hands end in small, vestigial claws instead of nail, often retracted but can come out as a sign of intimidation, though they often are incapable of cutting things and this is an instinctual response.

Society: The interactions between ikati can often be considered one of both respectful playfulness and disrespectful annoyance. This can make understanding where things stand between any two ikati difficult to outsiders as they can both seem to be constantly on the other's nerves while also still interacting positively. An ikati isn't afraid to take advantage of any situation it has on its hands, but will also often avoid causing harm to to others it views positively, and often still leave those they dislike a lone, their unique view on how one should be treated often meaning that most ikati simply leave eachother alone if they are on bad terms and revenge is not a common desire among them. On the other hand, they often view that nothing is above being toyed with or being brought low for hubris or pride, often making them question authority that has not earned its place.   Relations: Many who deal with ikati are often left stumped, unable to tell if they are disliked or seen positively by the ikati they often interact with, their view of authority and complete lack of hesitation to mess with authority figures often get them on the bad sad of races who view such positions are infallible or demand a less abnormal view of respect. Combined with their pragmatic attitude, they are often seen as precarious to deal with by newcomers but are commonly great long term companions when their respect is earned.   Alignment and Religion: Ikati within the brigandine primarily follow the conglomerate church, with a preference towards chimaeron and pet due to matching their outlook on life. Ikati have no alignment restrictions and can be of any alignment, but have a slight bias towards chaotic alignments.   Adventurers: Ikati can often enter adventuring as a line of work and can make great use of their talents in multiple roles. Often seen as skirmishers, archers, or scouts within adventuring parties, they can be considered in their elements in such situations. However ikati are capable of fulfilling any role within a party without much trouble.
