Albasteen Crystal (ˈȯl-bə-,stēn)

Weapons, ammunition, armor, and other equipment made out of albasteen crystal function as if made out of steel except as noted.

Weapons Weapons and ammunition made from albasteen crystal deal an extra 1d6 points of psychic damage on a successful hit and deals an extra 1d10 points of psychic damage on a successful critical hit. Creatures with class levels in a class with psychic spellcasting, or that possess the feat Psychic Sensitivity can attune with weapons made of albasteen crystal, allowing it to act on the creature's interests and intent, this functions as per spiritual weapon except the creature can command all attuned weapons as a singular move action. A creature can be attuned to one weapon per five psychic caster level or five skill ranks in a skill that has an occult skill unlock. Only one class or skill may be considered for this.

Armor Armor made from albasteen crystal grants 10 points of psychic resistance if it's light armor, grants 15 points of psychic resistance if it's medium armor, and grants 20 points of psychic resistance if it's heavy armor. Once per week, the wearer may channel the armor's power to reroll a Will save, this decision must be made before the result is declared.

Material Characteristics

A large sparkling, clear crystal with a light teal colouration. The crystal glows the same colour and is surprisingly dense compared to normal crystals and grows in far larger amounts. The crystal is observed to always grow jagged and sharp even when impeded showing distinct geometric formations constantly.

Physical & Chemical Properties

The most notable and immediate properties of albasteen crystal is the singing it produces at random, as well as the constant glow it produces. Both assumed to be cus of it's innate psionic nature that allows the crystals to seemingly think despite no real pattern or intent behind the detected activity. In some cases it's been seen that alabsteen crystal is capable of performing movement on its own in response to emotional activity from other individuals around it.

The crystal's psionic resonance makes it particularly hardy and resilient against psychic manipulation or force while also allowing it to interact with psionic powers and move by borrowing an entity's excess psychic powers.

The singing from an albasteen crystal, while ultimately harmless. Is known to cause extreme duress or fearful reactions among people who believe it to be voices attempting to speak in their head.

Geology & Geography

Found solely in the albasteen region of hussalia, up the hussal mountains. The albasteen caverns is often considered filled to the brim with the singing crystal. The crystal, named after the region itself, cuases the entirety of the underground to glow with an unworldly teal tone.

History & Usage

Everyday use

Often used as focuses and amps for psychic research, the crystal's innate psychic capacity allows it to contain a large amount of energy and even create crystal golems. However, the travel necessary to acquire the material is too dangerous for the majority of people who'd attempt.

Cultural Significance and Usage

Considered to be childish voices of the earth, it is frowned upon by elementals to gather it, believing it to be ripping spirits from their cradle under the earth. Despite this, albasteen crystals show no sign of duress when gathered and in some rare cases, are able to be made into familiars with proper preparation and incenses.

Trade & Market

Due to the rarity of capable people who are willing to travel to acquire the crystal, it is coveted by any who attempt research on mental and psychic studies, and it's long lasting use allows even one extensive purchase to fulfill a client's needs until it finally wears out. Causing spikes in demand of an otherwise rare and ungathered material.

Despite this, it is often considered impossible to perform any real experiments on psionic anomalies without the crystal for any up and coming researcher.
