Ms. Gunnhild Ivaldi (a.k.a. Granny Valdi)

Gunnhild Ivaldi is a legendary Cascadian figure, the matriarch of one of the city's most accomplished crafting and smithing family clans. Dedicating time in her retired age to teaching at Astra Nova, she has come to be known by the affectionate title of "Granny 'Valdi," a title that stems from her true family line, but that has since traveled with her now onto some of the students who enjoy her course. She, along with Albion and Lisetti Kreid make up the Development Department of Astra Nova. Despite being relatively small and stocky for a Cascadian woman, she has a surprising level of endurance and is a lot more capable than she let's on. She is kind and encouraging, always trying to be personable with students and teachers. She harbors a fairly noticeable Cascadian accent.

Body Features

Granny Valdi is shorter compared to others, but exceptionally so compared to other Cascadians. Despite her age and her unassuming clothing style, she harbors a strength that rivals most healthy young bodybuilders. Her skin isn't blemished or wrinkled very much.

Apparel & Accessories

She typically wears Cascadian inspired robes with a plethora of different colors, as well as hair ornaments and a keepsake gem necklace with her family crest tucked under her clothes. When she works on a project on her own instead of having someone else prepare it, she will typically remove her robes and hotter garments in the heat of the forge, sticking to just her baggy, sturdy trousers with pant legs stuffed into sturdy boots, and a lightweight tank top undershirt.

Personal history

The Ivaldi bloodline runs deep in Cascade, responsible for building some of Cascade's most important structures and equipment. It is said that it was on the Ivaldi's backs that the foundation for Cascade was moved on. At the head of the clan is Granny Valdi, who, in her husband's passing, is the sole monarch of the family line, and so holds the most respect and influence over the bloodline's clan.

Granny Valdi runs one of Astra Nova's Development Courses, a suite of classes which focus on the traits, uses, and creation of the gear heroes use throughout their career. She, taking lot's of her experiences from her clan craft, focuses on teaching students about the process of what goes into making the weapons and armor heroes of all kinds rely on every day, as well as some of the history of said equipment. This classes goes over the entire process, from materials, to crafting a finished product, to upkeep and maintenance, to destruction, and then to retrofitting and repairs. Outside of lectures and labs, students and teachers alike rely on her and her aides for upkeeping the equipment utilized for classes and assignments.
