Plump Helmet

Urist likes plump helmets for their rounded tops.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The plump helmet is a large, purple fungus. When mature, the mushroom has a large, rounded cap, similar in appearance to a traditional Dwarven helmet.

Genetics and Reproduction

As a fungus, plump helmets reproduce by spreading spores. If a plump helmet reaches full maturity, the cap will release a fine mist of lavender coloured spores. It is theorized that Dwarves evolved thick mustaches to filter out these spores from the air they breathe underground.

Growth Rate & Stages

Plump helmets grow and mature quickly, an average of two crops can be cultivated per season.

Ecology and Habitats

Plump helmets are a subterranean fungus, they thrive in cool, dark and damp environments making them a perfect choice for cultivation by Dwarves.

Additional Information

Uses, Products & Exploitation

The plump helmet is a staple food for Dwarven colonies all over the galaxy, from the smallest outpost to the largest Forgeworld. They can be eaten raw, cooked, or fermented into a type of wine.

Average Intelligence

Dwarves have occasionally claimed to have heard plump helmets talking to them, but these claims are universally ignored, and blamed on excessive spore inhalation.
