Ablative Plating

A collection of tiles that are applied to the exterior of HEV suits. They are designed to give an extra layer of protection against laser and plasma weaponry by ablating and vapourising, the resultant vapour cloud helps to block some of the energy of subsequent shots. The tiles are fragile, however, and solid impacts will shatter them easily. The ablative nature of these tiles has an interesting side effect in an unpressurised, Zero-G environment: They turn the wearer into a surprisingly efficient rocket. Several convicts have been lost to stray laser fire this way.
