Aetheria

Ruler: High Chancellor Elara Voss   Aetheria was the first sky-city to be founded, when the elemental mages successfully fused the elements of earth and air. Aetheria is the largest and most prosperous of the Sky-Cities, known for it's magical research, artificer guilds, elemental lore, and bustling trade-markets.   The city is built on a great mass of floating rock. It's ancient stone buildings now have yellowed walls and emerald-green minarets and spires in greened copper. Clumps of vegetation and waterfalls spill from it's rocky edges into the perpetual cloud below.   It is a melting-pot of traders, scholars, artificers and elemental magi. It is the famous of the grand Aetherium Academy, regarded by many as the greatest lore-centre for the elemental arts. The city is considered a safe and law-abiding place, with most of it's people here for a clear purpose of study, research or to trade in artefacts or goods, and it is rarely wise to start an infraction in centre famed for it's raw elemental power.   Rivalry runs deep between many of the colleges and guilds, but this rarely leads to any serious matters. Still, Aetheria's reliance on sorcery makes it vulnerable to other forces, and the High Chancellor maintains several wings of griffon-knights. Aetheria's rivaly with Ironclave is especially fierce, and there is little love lost between the folk of the two cities.
Inhabitants: Aetheria is home to many disciplines of magi and scholars, particularly those of elemental arts. It is reknowned for it's magical workshops and forges, and their skilled Artificers who produce enchanted items of every kind.   The Aetherium Academy is home to hundreds of chambers of scholars and magi, while the sky-ports and marketplaces work tirelessly to supply the Artisans with raw materials of every kind, exchange them with pleasure for artifacts and potions to trade in the terrestrial ports and cities below.
Specialities: Magical artifacts, enchanted weapons, and spell components.
Relations: Aetheria often finds itself at odds with the more industrial cities, particularly Ironclave, due to differing views on the use of magic versus technology.
