Tierwood

Tierwood is an isolated forest located on the western side of Okanu. Bordered on three sides by mountains and Murkwater to the west, it is almost perfectly isolated from the rest of the island. Unusual animals and fauna can be found here, much of which is dangerous. Tierwood gets its name from the layered biome created by the runoff from the surrounding mountains eroding away the soil beneath the roots of the forest. The trees have such interlocked roots that plunge down into the earth in columns rather than webs, creating a muddy underworld with columns and ceilings made of nearly indestructible roots. The roots ceiling also serves as the floor of the second layer with a thick canopy of branches that, in tern, is ceilinged by dense leaves. This has created a unique environment where herbivores live in the higher levels with carnivores and scavengers living below.
