Skullhound Species in Aroka: Fallen World | World Anvil

Skullhound

Skullhounds are a common predator in jungle and forest biomes. Denoted by the hard, bone-like plating on their heads that serves to both protect their faces and forms a pair of external incisors, they typically hunt in small groups or pairs, calling for the rest of their pack if needed. Their haunting howl has become synonymous with an omen of a gruesome death by many adventurers as it announces the approach of a pack of predators that have evolved to tear its prey limb from limb.
Most encounters with Skullhounds talk of black fur and a white canine skull, both stained with blood. Despite the horrific imagery, these encounters are the least lethal as the blood indicates that the Skullhound just recently ate. A clean, white skull is the one you need to be afraid of encountering.
