Nox

The Titan of Darkness

As a concept, nothing cannot exist without the absence of something, just as darkness cannot exist without the memory of light. Before that there is no light and dark, no lack or abundance. The same can be said for Nox, The Titan of Darkness. Without Lux they could not exist and without them Lux could not exist. Lux is the beginning, the first, but Nox is everywhere they are not, the zero to Lux's numerical value of one. Thus, it is commonly understood that Nox and Lux came into existence together and were the birth of meaning in the universe. Everything which came after was given meaning only in the light and shadow of the pair's existence.

Nox is often depicted with a net and spear, a net for the dark that they cast over the world every night and a spear for how the unexpected can strike unseen from the shadows. Their titan form is typically a four-armed, winged humanoid of immense scale. Where Lux has feathered wings Nox instead has a taught membrane reminiscent of a dragon or a bat. Their body is covered in black plates and a thickly scaled tail like that of a crocodilian is often added to their form. Said to be used when Nox "swims" through the void.

Of all the titans it is said that Nox is the most indifferent. The title Secret-keeper is said to come from this titan's indifference paired with people's penchant for whispering their secrets into the dark just to get them off their chest. Using the night as their confessional.

Domain

Like Lux, Nox has no plane of existence which they call their own, instead spreading themselves over many of the elemental planes. Day and night come and go in cycles for each of the planes just as they do here on Arkos only they are not joined by the sun and moon. During this time, they also visit the other titans with their consciousness spilt across several avatars.

Creations

Unlike the Cardinal Elementals and the Scions, it is said Lux and Nox are not driven to create as the other titans but are believed to be ones who enjoy witnessing the creations of others. Still, they are the creators of Terra, Ignis, Aether, and Aqua. They accomplished this through shared meditation on their first meeting, recalling all that they had felt in the moment. Serenity, Passion, Wonder, and Fear. From this came the Cardinal Elements, pulled from the chaos around Lux and Nox. It was the Cardinals who had an innate drive to bring Order to Chaos and sought to divide existence into domains befitting their natures. Without Lux and Nox it is true that nothing would exist, but they are not the driving force in the universe.

Constellation

Nox is numerically represented by zero, they are a power which fills everything beyond the reach of the other titans. They need no constellation to be remembered by for they fill the night sky with their darkness, and it is only in that dark that the stars truly get to shine.

Blessings/Fellmarks

There is no known record of any blessing nor fellmark bestowed by Nox. It is rare for titans to care of the happenings on Arkos but it is unknown if there has ever been a time Nox turned their eye back to this place.
