The Mind Lock

The mind lock is a very old form of magic, a rune older than even The Final Empire the lgends say that even the gods used them to ensure secrets being kept. Once a mind lock is placed upon a certain topic it is extremely hard and dangerous to remove it afterwards, so one has to think hard about what and when to create such a Lock. The Mind lock is commonly placed upon a piece of script, and that script is henceforth unreadable by anyone who does not submit to the Lock. Whilst reading the person will feal a slight tug at their consciousness, If the reader accepts this connection a mind lock is established and the words can be read if not the words remain a mystery.

Effects

The effect of the mind lock is rather simple, those who accept to be put under its influence are henceforth unable to reveal the topics locked by the spell to anyone else, except those who are also under the effects of the same mind lock. The important factor here is willingness it is almost impossible to force a mindlock onto someone else, almost ... a few experts have discovered a cruel and dangerous way of implanting the lock directly onto someones consciousness, they caled this the "Mind Brandmark" for the mind of the receiver will always be scarred by this mark.

Risks

This Magic of course has its risks and it is never wise to accept a mindlock without being certain of who and how he cast it. For example someone could create a mind lock on a piece of script containing a certain letter or a language, and the reader would then bebound by the lock never being able to talk the letter or the language to anyone else not affected by the mind lock ever again.

Applications

Of course the application of this type of magic are vast, be it important government secrets, private matters of embarresment among nobles or the conditions of a merchant guild all these and more can be covered by a mind lock a simple way to ensure information from leaking.

Variations

There are two major variations of the Mind Lock the more common public lock, and the lesser known selection lock, whilst the public lock can be aaccepted by anyone reading the script at the time, the selection lock can only be accepted by those the caster specifically determined at the time of casting.
