Brickmaking

Brickmaking is a Tellurian technology which was cultivated in the Weird Terrain of Arkadia. The Weird Terrain is the aftermath of an asteroid's impact from aeons ago and the supposed birthplace of the Dusioi, and long ago held a brick industry that reached its way (tentatively) to Penumbria. However, that time has long passed, and bricks remain a mystery of the past and of what was lost on Tellus.

What's up with the Weird Terrain?

The Dusioi were originally from a dense cloud forest called the Weird Terrain, which began to grow from exposure to radiation from Rath, the Sun. The Weird Terrain was, at its height, a prehistoric marvel full of resources which would not be replaceable on Arkadia. One of those was the shale and clay needed to make brick.

The Weird Terrain is no more, or so they say. It was a forest so humid and dense that light and sound barely penetrates. This humidity kept the Dusioi thriving and allowed for their subsequent migration, but the storm caused by the asteroid's impact eventually ended and the forest dried up.

There are rumours that there are still some hiding out in there, among the scorched and frozen remains of a once lively civilization.

Brickmaking

There was once a thriving brick industry in the Weird Terrain. Shale, clay, silica, and many other materials necessary for creating bricks were relatively available. Brickmaking and bricklaying, the profession of laying and building with brick, became something associated with the Red Hoods as they frequently visited with the Dusioi and introduced them into the green halos of the Penumbrian Circle.

However, their supplies became seriously interrupted when the Antumbrian and Caloran people who live in Antumbria became involved.

Antumbrians: Sunscorched Interlopers

Antumbria is a place which became so dangerous to the survival of the Penumbrians, that it is currently sealed off. Antumbria, the surface of Arkadia between both polar regions, has the perfect environment for firing brick during the Perihelion. Thus it was once strongly considered part of the industry of brickmaking and is why there are some lingering remnants of Caloran and Antumbrian culture deep in Penumbria, if you know where to look.

However, they were a major part in draining the resources of the Weird Terrain and drying it up, and their relationships with the Dusioi and the Penumbrians, not to mention the Red Hoods, fell apart.
