Revision of The Calendar

After the fall of the Behrahthi Tolkron, most nations rejected the universal calendar of Behrahth as an outward manifestation of their rejection of the crushing tyranny that they had suffered under for so long.    The scientific community wanted to remedy the confusing variance in the multitude of calendars throughout the civilized world. So many different calendars made scheduling international trade messy and inefficient. Each business would have to consult a different calendar for each particular nation.   The nations, at least the friendly ones, came together at a worldwide conference in Kaylor, Thesta, in 1218 kV to evaluate possible solutions. Each nation wanted its own measuring system to be used. But, after weeks of debate, in earthly terms, they finally came to agree on the one measuring system that they all partially had in common, the ancient Behrahth calendar.   The ancient Behrahth calendar was the most accurate in the world at the time, missing the length of the revolution around the sun by less than an exedah. This uncanny accuracy gave scientists reason to speculate that the legends that the world once had an unobstructed view of the night sky had some validity.   The first problem with this was that, while they reluctantly admitted the benefits of the calendar's accuracy, the representatives present at the conference refused to adopt it. The second problem was that the calendar used an awkward leap year system.   A proposal was made to use the calendar by a different name but incorporate minor changes such as incorporating the three remaining days into the year rather than making up for the missing days in a complex leap year system.    Since this solution was unacceptable to the majority of representatives, they chose another solution which was to reduce the number of aravahti and add the leftover megrahti evenly to each remaining aravaht.   After much discussion, they finally reached an agreement to remove four months that honored Behrahthi leaders and historical figures and add a month honoring the hero who overthrew the Behrahthi Tolkron, Kal Verahda. On the 14th day of Visdrahl in 1218 kV, the conference unanimously ratified the new calendar and approved immediate measures to convert dates from the old system to the new.   During the long process of aligning dates of historical events to the new calendar, scholars began to find that the task was too overwhelming. Rather than tackle the enormous task of sifting through hundreds of thousands of yahdi of history, they decided to set a date to begin the new calendar.   This date was unanimously decreed to be the fall of the Behrahthi Tolkron. Everything before this date would be referenced by the old calendar of Behrahth, while latter dates would henceforth be referenced using the new Scientific Standard.
