The Shard of Light

In the Iralato kingdom which is a cluster of five islands just west of Anicarta. There is a large central island surrounded by four slightly smaller islands. There is an item that is found in each village, town, each home, which is called the shard of Light. It is either a small sculpture or an image of the actual Shard of Light which is housed in the capital city of Ikajaat on the largest island.
The Shard of Light is a symbol of trust, light, service, and safety. It is a large light blue crystal, it is about the size of a person. It is the shape of a long elliptical, but flat on each end. The Shard of Light is in the tallest tower in the center of the city. Hovering between two platforms. Right now it gives off a soft glow and hum. 
The tale of the Shard of Light starts several generations ago. This was at a time when the Iralato kingdom did not yet exist and each island did its own governing. At least two of the five islands were threatening war with the other islands. There was a civil war on one island, civil unrest on another and the last island was trying to stay out of all of it. Finally, the threat of war became a reality and the two islands banded together and attacked the other three islands. The other two islands fell quickly however the central island stood firm and repealed any attack made. After a few years of this losing each time the other four islands decided on a four-pronged attack to the central island. However. On the day of the planned attack, after the ships had set sail, very thick clouds blanketed the islands. Thick rain filled the area along with strong winds. Those left on the islands were terrified that those in the boats were lost, while those on the ships were battling for their lives. Those on the central island were also unsure of what was happening. This continued for several days. Surprisingly all the ships were able to reach land. However, none landed on either their home island or the central island. Another week went by and the people were losing hope that the storm would ever end. Just as all were losing hope, a light appeared. All anyone could tell was that it came from the central island. This light appeared to push the storm clouds and rain away. Slowly the light grew brighter and brighter until the clouds were pushed away and disappeared. Once this was done the central island sent out ships to each island with aid and to see if they could help. Each of these ships carried a smaller version of the large light that they had seen. This was the start of the Iralato kingdom. As the shard of Light and the kindness of the central island brought the other islands together.
