Terikati

Terikati is the second largest and oldest city near the east coast of Anicarta. It is one of two ports on the east coast of Anicarta. Terikati is built on the right side of the river Tormis. The left side has tall cliffs that drop straight into the river. There are a few buildings on the top of the high cliffs but they are mostly military lookouts. Just before the city starts is a man-made harbor that allows ships to dock. Terikati is a day's travel from the coast. The reason for this is the harbor is the first place that ships can reach the shore safely. As Terikati lies in a flood plain the buildings have been built on stilts to reduce the damages done when the Tormis floods every few years. Much of the land under the stilts is used to grow food and other plants that are mostly deported elsewhere. In nearby fields, some of the land is harvested and used as soil enhancements.   The story of how Terikati was founded is full of myth and fact. It starts with a group of about ten families that called themselves Teri-Ka running away from an oppressive, violent faction that wanted to control or wipeout them out. This faction was called Necron. Once the Teri-Ka reached the Tormis River flood plane, Necron was close behind. One man named Taki Senta found a large flat rock that was higher than the flood plane and hurried the group to it. Working together quickly they got everyone up on the rock just as Necron appeared on the plain they could see the Teri-Ka huddled on the rock and thought that they had them. However, what happened next is the subject of myth. It is unsure if the man named Taki Senta was able to summon the river to swell and flood the plain pushing the Necron back making it to that they couldn’t reach the Teri-Ka. Or if it was just the time of year for the river to surge flood onto the plain. Whatever it was the result was the same the Necron were stopped in their tracks and were unable to get close to the group. Over the next several years Necron would try to attack the group however they were pushed back each time until a treaty was reached and the Necron never returned. Even with the attacks Teri-ka built a city and called it TeriKati. The harbor and trade came slowly over time as the city grew.
