Blond-tailed Kings Hawk

The Blond-tailed Kings hawk is the largest hawk found on Anicarta. It is the 2nd largest bird in the world. Their feathers are dark brown with golden tips and their heads have a red tint to them. The males are slightly larger than the females and have full golden tail feathers. While the females have just a bit more red on their heads. They have a wing span that is between six and ten feet. They have large talons that are used to grapple and hold onto their prey. Their beaks are built to tear their prey into pieces. Their prey is medium-sized prey, and they have been known to take on other birds. They will attack people or even large land animals to protect themselves or their young. They have excellent hearing and can see several miles. They are found mostly in the interior of the continent. They nest high on cliff sides and the tall trees in the south. The male and female mate once a year with three eggs being laid. The female stays with the eggs even after they hatch with the male brings back food. The female stays close to the nest until the hatchlings can fly. The female has been known to attack anything that comes near her nest during nesting season.   Many governments and organizations on Anicarta and other continents have used the Blond-tailed Kings hawk as their symbol. Many use it because it has very few natural predators and even those have a hard time besting the Blond-tailed Kings hawk. The image of the hawk has been used as far back as anyone can remember. Many historians have a hard time pinpointing the oldest known image of the hawk. However, the hawk has been used both in government and in religious ceremonies. Especially ceremonies that revolve around a change of power.
