Sshidar Day
The fourth day of the week is the equinox, and is holy to Suta, F’rion’ri, and Rinenir in addition to Iiran and Hrerir. Sshidar Day is a solemn day of prayer and quiet devotion, usually spent with family, when people give thanks for the Spring and Summer and pray for a bountiful Fall and mild Winter. The poor and unfortunate are especially remembered, and most temples and churches provide meals, shelter, and whatever clothes they are able to offer (beyond what they may already give) to the poor on this day. Many people donate provisions and money to this effort, and some even take in vagrants and beggars for the night. It is considered very bad luck to turn away from or refuse to help a beggar on Sshidar Day; it is also ill luck to ask for anything one does not truly need—many “professional” (i.e., con artist) beggars do not ply their trade on this day as a result.
