Games of chance and gambling are popular entertainments on this day, which is holy to Rai’lo, Shursa, Kaernlan, and Irstudr. One’s luck, for ill or good, is thought to foreshadow the twists and turns that person’s luck will take through the rest of the year. Some institutions forbid or strictly limit gambling with actual money, but even these groups will allow gambling with tokens, which can usually be traded in for prizes or special privileges. Lotteries and raffles are common, as well.
