The Golden Griffons
The Golden Griffons are an aerial regiment from The Grand Duchy of Enrieme . They are the most senior unit in the Ducal Guard. The Regiment is composed of 200 knights who ride gryphons into battle.
The insignia of the regiment is a golden gryphon on a field of Enrieme Blue. This is worn on shields and surcoats, as well as carried on the Regimental Banner. Each knight is in addition permitted to carry their personal arms on a small patch on the front right of their surcoat.
In order to ensure a full stable of gryphons, the regiment maintains close ties with the dwarves of The Niandi Mountains and pays handsomely for unhatched eggs, using real gold coins rather than the ceramic ones more commonly issued by the Treasury of Enrieme.
The current commander of the regiment is Sir Bauduin De Chastel Moré, some of Lord Reynaud De Chastel Moré.

The regiment rides gryphons into battle. For more normal non-combat purposes, the men are also competent horsemen.
