Scene: Innroom. Time: 8:30 PM. Quel'rose is currently washing herself up before bed, while Dina sits in the single bed, dressed in pyjamas, and reading a bestiary. As Quelrose finishes bathing, she puts on a bathrobe, and walks out to see Dina looking at her with a sad expression on her face, the book half-open on the bed.
  Quel: What's wrong?
Dina says nothing, but holds the book outright, so that Quel can see. She is reading an article on Barguest. She holds back a tear
Quel'rose walks over to her, sharing her expression, and softly closes the book on Dina's hands.
  Dina: It was scary.
Quel: Why are you reading volume 4 already? I told you to finish up on the first two first before we move onto that stuff?
Dina again says nothing, but looks over towards the pair of helmets, currently sitting on a nightdesk on Quel'Roses side of the bed. Quel'rose looks at the helmets as well.
Quel: I know....it was terrible for me too. But we got out, and that's what matters.
Dina: Then did you mean what you said in the bedroom?
  ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Flashback: Royal Bedchambers. Dina sits on the bed, confused, while Quel walks around in circles, fuming.
Flashback Quel: It makes no sense! How dare this.....this, MONKAI (Elvish for Monkey, Racial slur for humans) king keep us locked up in this room! in his own KEEP! This is slavery, I tell you. SLAVERY!
Flashback Dina: Isn't he the king? He has a plan for us, doesn't he? That's what kings do?
Flashback Quel: HE'LL TEAR HIS KINGDOM APART?! *Quel continues walking in circles.
Flashback: Dina: Well, we're stuck here, aren't we? We might as well see what he has to say.
  *Quel'rose stops pacing.
  Flashback Quel: No......
Flashback Quel: I will not stay here and be....corralled like a horse by some Monkey King.
Flashback Dina: Then what are we to do?
Flashback Quel: *Solemnly. Something that I'd never thought I'd have to do.
  *Dina looks puzzled.
*Quel lays her backpack on the ground, and pulls out her crossbow, along with a pair of bolts from her quivver.
*She sits on the ground by her weapon,, and stares at it.
Flashback Quel: You remember, Dina, when i told you the code of Sarenrae, a few weeks after we started working together?
  *Dina nods.
Dina: (Repeating from memory) We will redeem the ignorant with our words and our actions. If they will not turn toward the light, We will redeem them by the sword. We will not abide evil, and will combat it with steel when words are not enough. We do not flinch from our faith, and do not fear embarrassment. Our soul cannot be bought for all the stars in the sky......I will"
Flashback Quel: (Interrupting) You can stop there, Dina. "All the Stars in the sky......" Do you know what that means.
Flashback Dina: That regardless of the actions taken in our life, you meet the Dawnflower in the end, as long as you follow the tenets?
Flashback Quel: Yes. (Quel begins loading the crossbow.) Dina, We are in a war we cannot win. Commanded by a useless king, and forced to fight a foe I don't even understand. I watched you cut down in the arena, and I will likely see the same happen again for the twisted desires of this Monkai king. *QuelRose finishes loading the crossbow. "Some may consider what I'm about to do a cowardly act, but, in truth...I cannot bear to see them hurt you again. I'm sorry Dina."
  : Dina: QUELROSE! *TWANG. *THUD ............................................. ................................................ : ................................................. ...................................................
  Flashback Dina: Quelrose........
  *Dina crys.
*Over the next two hours, as Quel'Rose is awoken in the real world, Dina continues to cry over the lifeless body of her tutor, and her friend. She, with all her might, lifts Quel Rose's body onto the top of the bed, and covers her fully in the bed wrappings, now stained with blood. Dina looks towards the unloaded crossbow on the floor, first with disgust, and then with sorrow.
With Quel'rose fully "buried" in the bed, Dina slides down to the side of the room, and grabs hold on the crossbow bolt. She stares at it. As if examining the craftsmanship. She places the bolt in the crossbow, but then lifts it away. She stares at both.

Dina: (Repeating from memory) We will redeem the ignorant with our words and our actions. If they will not turn toward the light, We will redeem them by the sword. We will not abide evil, and will combat it with steel when words are not enough. We do not flinch from our faith, and do not fear embarrassment.   *The sound of a crossbow being loaded is heard.

Dina turns the weapon towards herself.

  *Dina closes her eyes.
*Suddenly, there is a huge flash of light, and Dina finds herself in a dark room, with Quel'rose looking over her. "Shhh" Quel'Rose said towards Dina. "We have to get out of here!"
  (End Flashback)
*Dina stares at Quel'Rose, with inquisitive eyes.
Quel: I'm.....I can't. It was a very emotional time. For both of us. I get hotheaded sometimes....I..."
Dina: (Repeating from memory) Our souls cannot be bought for all the stars in the sky.
Quel: *In tears. "I'm.....I'm sorry, Dina. I thought it was the end. I thought we were stuck in some...twisted dichotomy of being forced to fight, and die, and fight, and die. That's not what you want, is it? That's not what any of us want!"
Dina looks down towards the book, and opens up the bestiary again.
  QuelRose looks at the book
Book: Feeding: When a barghest slays a humanoid foe, it can feed on the corpse, devouring both flesh and life force, in but a manner of seconds Feeding destroys the victim’s body and prevents any form of raising or resurrection that requires part of the corpse. There is a 50% chance that a wish, miracle, or true resurrection spell can restore a devoured victim to life. If it fails, however, the creature cannot be brought back to life by mortal magic.
A barghest advances in Hit Dice by consuming corpses in this fashion. For every three suitable corpses a barghest devours.............
  Dina: That?
  Quelrose looks at the book.
Quel: Well, not that specifically, but yes. To be stuck...without any escape. Be it in a prison cell, or a endless cycle, or...whatever dimension that Bargests use, yes. Thats one of my greatest fears. To be stuck somewhere, and be unable to DO anything. Regardless of if you have free will or not.
: Quel: A long time ago.....when I was about eigh...(Looks at Dina) about five years old, I didn't do well on a test. I failed, in fact. Worst in the class. I shamed my family. And when my father found out?
  *Dina looks on, eagerly.
Quel: They put me in a Hole. A portable Hole. A small light at the top for air but otherwise....nothing. No walls to touch. Nothing to keep me company. It was just me, and my thoughts, alone, floating, in an empty black void.
Quel: And Dina, that TERRIFIED me. Terrified me to no end. Even to this day.....I don't like being alone. Or locked away anywhere. And when I woke up in that prison cell? It took all my willpower to melt through those bars, and try to find something, or someone, anyone, which I recognised.
Dina: Why are you telling me this?
Quel: Because I want you to know, Dina......, that being afraid is perfectly normal. Even adults feel fear sometimes. Even the biggest, and strongest of us. Even your parents. Even me.
Quel: But you can't let your fear define you. What I did in that....room....I regret. I regret immensely. Perhaps the better course of action was to simply let things play out. Perhaps the Dawnflower herself might've fixed things. What I did....was a bad thing, Dina. And I'm sorry for having you experience that.
Dina thinks about Quel'roses body wrapped up underneath bed covers.
  Dina: I'm sorry too.
  Quel: Allright.
*Quelrose walks over to the other side of the bed, and gets in, beside Dina.
Quel: Things are on the upturn at least. We got to go shopping today. We're going to do some experiments tomorrow. And find out what this is all about. We might even make a few friends.
Dina: Can I finish reading the 4th book?
  Quelrose smiles
Quel: Yes you can finish reading the 4th book.
*Quelrose blows out the bedside light, both both go to bed
