Morragaine Ward

Pronunciation: /MOR-ah-gayn/   In the time before the peace, Archon Morragaine controlled the largest and most secure Ward on the Shell. With very few bordering Wards, and each of those Archons being more committed to the continuing survival of the faction than the power of conquest, she was firm in her control of her territory. Unlike many of the other Wards, Morragaine Ward is a very hospitable place for Bonds to live. Archon Morragaine has historically treated hers with great respect for the labour they perform. Fair, if characteristically low wages were the norm, as was regular availability of both necessities and items of personal desire. Bonds in Morragaine Ward are some of the few with items such as handheld mirrors, regular access to soaps and simple perfumes, and small flourishes in clothing which may be present sporadically throughout any particular Bondship.   Archon Morragaine was renowned for having an absurd number of contingencies in place during the conflicts. A renowned Warmage with a focus on magic below the epic tier in general, her Ward remains patrolled by constructs and guardians, and is laced with warding magics large and small at every level. Her reputation among Bonds was that of a god-queen, and she defended their right to live normal lives as much as is possible for those in a Bondship. To this end, in the years following the peace, Archon Morragaine was spurred by a lack of threat from the other Archons to turn her attention sourceways to The Eminent Territories, openly challenging the dragons over their slavery of their people. She declared war, and for a short time it went well with her legions of shield guardians, animated armour, and familiars. However, in a battle said to have included empress Vandria herself, Archon Morragaine went missing. The dragons have never done more than reinforce their positions since that battle, but Archon Morragaine has never been seen since. The Other Archons have been too cautious of her possible survival, and the penalties that would follow the annexation of a living Archon's territory, to step in and claim it in the years since.
