Causes

An Animan is unable to transform when there is a restriction placed on the body, such as a metal collar around the neck. This is because the Animan has to expand their in order to reshape its form into the next. Victims usually suffer for 1-3 months.

Symptoms

Bad dreams, restless sleep, aching joints and bones, the feeling of bone scraping against bone.
In a dire circumstance, the skin will begin pulsating in an attempt to forcibly transform.

Treatment

Removing the restriction and transforming. After this, the symptoms should resolve itself within a few days. If it is left untreated, then the body will resolve itself to that form, and the Animan will be unable to transform for the remainder of their life. It is a debilitation permanent condition, as Anishell (as they're called) encounter a 'loss of one's half of self', and usually suffer from mental illness.

Cultural Reception

Animen who had been victims of this condition are called Anishell, and are the lowest on the Animan caste system. They are usually prevented from getting jobs and are left begging on the street. Anishell can usually be found living on the outskirts of the city walls, as they don't produce enough productivity to be worthy of protection.
