Alsyllio
The great forests of Alsyllio cover the southeastern coast of Aressa, stretching from the Iron Mountains to the ocean. The city of Oryktós is located at its northern edge.
Geography
The forest is divided into three distinct sections: Upper, Middle, and Lower Alsyllio. Upper Alsyllio refers to the northern edge of the forests, as well as the northwestern hills. Most trees are tall oaks, and the forest floor is orange with old fallen leaves. Wild animals are most commonly found here.
Middle Alsyllio is the inner region of the forest, mostly flat ground but with densely packed cedar trees. Here, the trees are ancient and covered with clusters of vines, and the only sounds are the wind high above and the footsteps of the occasional traveler, hastening through the pathless woods.
Lower Alsyllio is the southeastern region: the trees are shorter, save for the birches that rise high above their surroundings. There are a number of hot springs in the region, which are home to a variety of animals seen nowhere else.
Fauna & Flora
Lower Alsyllio contains many animals unique to the region, including the Redstripe Tortoise that lays its eggs in the hot springs, and the Idassa, a dark green songbird that often bathes in the water prior to hunting for insects.
