Session 10 through 12
General Summary
Resolving the Tannith Vale Affair
- While at the encampment of the Royal Host, the PCs are brought to discuss issues with representative of the Arcanum. They are met by an arcane investigator and her bodyguard/enforcer. The only folks in the room are the player-characters; Urik of Tor Mara, an Agent of the Throne; and the two Arcanum Mages.
- The Arcanum's Grand Inquisitor, Ansa Greycloud, has a discussion with Oswyn in regards to what actually happened in the Tannith Vale Tower and the nature of the massacre in the castle of the Countess.
- The Arcanum is concerned about its reputation here, especially given that some dark cult was able to infiltrate or convert at least three young Mages -- all originating from the arcane academy in Bluffside -- the Ebony Tower.
- The Arcanum has taken action to both punish the culprits and to help secure Tannith Vale -- Oswyn is seen as central to this, as she is a "fixer" of renown. It is implied that Oswyn needs to help ensure that the remaining Mages of the Tannith Vale Tower are aligned with the greater organization.
- Oswyn considers the implication, and does her rate best to give a non-answer that isn't infuriating. The player-characters are ushered away from the Arcanum's tent and into the command tent of the Royal Host.
- The player-characters meet with the Lord-Commander of the Royal Host, who commends them for their valour and clever tactics. He has a discussion with Morrus about his recommendations on how to approach the situation here on behalf of the Throne.
- Morrus explains the reasoning behind backing the Countess and the Baroness -- they suggest replacing the Baron of Tanberg with someone more willing to work together with the Countess with the Throne's Blessing. The player-characters are dismissed afterwards.
- Elendros infiltrates the Arcanum tent while the others are busy, and he finds out that the Arcanum is very concerned about the infiltration and the fact that they know that the Tower Chief of Tannith Vale is the real father of the young Count-to-Be. They are considering taking steps to silence Barrinor Lada and possibly Erinna of Abenton, and just appoint a whole new staff complement for the Tower in Tannith Vale.
- Before the party leaves the encampment, the PCs head back to Tannith Vale and inform both Erinna the Battlemage and Tower Chief Barrinor Lada of the plans that the Arcanum has... Erinna ends up leaving the Tannith area to seek out direct contracts with the Baroness of Roanberg. While Elendros does find and discuss things with Barrinor, he is not convinced that he should leave, and decides to stay close to the Countess and his son.
- The party then travels back to Brigden Ford through Grand Fork -- they are able to take a river boat from there to the big city as it's largely been dredged and widened.

- Oswyn has been offered a special out -- the Order of Nine and the Throne are both well-aware of the difficult position that Oswyn has found herself.
- The Throne believes that Osywn may be at-risk due to the position that she's taken in regards to Tannith Vale -- they wish to offer her a specific-to-Eos direct contract. She would still enjoy the benefits of her membership of the Arcanum, but her direct duties would be to serve the Throne directly, rather than someone within the Guild.
- Brongar is also offered a contract of service to the Throne, which would make her an Agent of the Throne as well.
- In addition to her notoriety as The Pit-Fighting Champion of the City, Brongar has gained a large following of folks who hold to the Old Faith. She's increasingly being seen as a Champion of the Goddess and protector of the People of the Blood.
- Brongar has made deep connections to the Zocalo Council -- the folks in charge of running the Grey/Black Market that operates in the city itself -- and she has made deeper connections with the Hidden Temple to the point where the Priestess has given Brongar a guiding spirit bound to a ring to help her navigate her journeys.
