Ley Lines

Ley Lines are an incredibly important arcanonatural resource. They provide additional arcane power in localized areas that can be focused using Leybeacons. Furthermore, they determine the route and locations for teleportation magic, as all long-distance teleportation magic moves individuals or objects through ley lines. They are also similar to oil in that they are physically present and can be dug for and pumped. In a liquid, distilled form it is known as Numen, and can be used in the creation of magical artifacts and potions, to name a few.

Manifestation

Ley Lines flow through underground channels of semi-liquid crystal, which in and of themselves have valuable uses. They emanate a field of arcane influence that affects how magic functions within it. There are many different types of effects that can be rendered by it via countless different environmental variables. Some fields magnify the potency of magic, others weaken it. Some can redirect it, or even prevent it from manifesting in any form.
When the raw Ley Lines, the fluid of which is called Mana, are distilled from their crystalline vesicles, they become a substance known as Numen, which has many different properties and uses, with research currently ongoing due to the natural complexity of the compound.

Localization

Ley Lines are generally the size of river, and flow throughout the entire world. As far as it is known, all of them are connected. However, new Ley Lines are being discovered regularly, as their existence was found relatively recently in comparison to the long history of Ardrim.

Metaphysical, Arcane
