Flying Carpets

Flying carpets have become far more common in large, wealthy cities as of recently. This is almost explicitly because of the revolutionary leaps forward made in concern to interplanar trade. The carpets themselves are almost exclusively manufactured and enchanted in the City of Brass, making these recent advances necessary for magic carpets to become more widely used. Just this fact (their location of manufacture being the City of Brass) has caused some groups to see their use as unethical due to the City of Brass's reputations in dealing with powerful fiends and slavery. The most outspoken of these protestors include many of the more conservative holy orders in the Deodene Empire.   In spite of all of this, magic carpets are still not incredibly common due to being very expensive. They are almost only found in large, wealthy cities and are either owned by the local government or, as is more common, owned and rented by powerful guilds and merchants in order to rent them. Almost as a rule, the only private individuals to own them are very influential aristocrats, powerful and wealthy mages, or powerful mercenary parties.   Furthermore, they are far more common in southern cities due to their warmer climate. Lanador purchased some, but relatively quickly realized that people did not enjoy traveling through open air in cold weather. Some of the largest buyers are Maenor, Rokalotse, and several of the other nations in Balukthur.   While different variations exist, by far the most common are the three standard sizes. These are 5' x 5', 5' by 10', and 10' x 10'. All of them are of similar rarity, but vary greatly in price with their costs being 20,000 Gp, 35,000 Gp, and 60,000 Gp, respectively.
