Sheshai
Called the People of the Spear in many a myth, the Sheshai were the last people conquered by the Old Orckid Empire before their great war with the Daridans. The Sheshai were primitive in comparison to their foes, and greatly outnumbered, but their position on the River Shauron gave them an advantage in repelling their foes. One Orckid virtuoso reports that, when facing defeat, the People of the Spear would simply flee north into Daridan territory, where Orckid forces would fear to follow. Once the Orckids began preparing for war with the Daridan Empire, the Sheshai would return to their homes.
Peace was finally reached with the Sheshai through marriage. Though they submitted to Orckid rule, they did not surrender in battle, which was considered an important point of honor among their people. The people along the southern half of the River Shauron would call themselves the Sheshai for hundreds of years to follow, supposedly long after their distinctive features had been absorbed into Orckid culture.
