Cinderwing
Cinderwing, twin sister of Eldrilith, is a ferocious and unrelenting member of the wood elf resistance movement against the encroaching human colonization of the Sylvan Glades. She believes in having the Sylvan Glades free of outsiders that do not respect the delicate balance of the natural world, and will not hesitate to spill blood of those who would do it harm. Cinderwing carries herself with the lethal grace of a wood elven warrior of the forest. Her long, platinum blonde hair is adorned with feathers in a menagerie of colors testifying a deep connection with the winged creatures of the forest, and her sky blue eyes belie her wrathful nature. Blood red and charcoal war paint adorns her face and arms, marking her dedication to the hunt of the Sylvan Glade’s enemies.
She has a widespread reputation in Sylvarivera for her ferocious violence against colonization efforts within the forest, and relentless hunt of any members of Humanity’s Guardians League that cross her path. When she is on the hunt, her lust for blood knows no bounds. Swift like the wind in combat, she fights like she is dancing a violent dance of death, just as she was taught by Swordfather in the ancient ways of the Bladedancer.
Cinderwing is in many ways the opposite of her brother Eldrilith. While Eldrilith has a serene presence and favors doing things through diplomacy and meticulous planning, Cinderwing is a fiery tempest, relentless in her merciless hunt for vengeance. Though they are two pieces of a whole, twins as they are. Cinderwing, without Eldrilith to temper her, would see rivers of blood flow through the glades. While Eldrilith, without Cinderwing to ignite his defiance, would lack the fire to fight and protect the forest from human ambition.
There was a time when Cinderwing’s heart wasn’t so filled with hate, however. Though she does not often speak of it, for it brings her much pain, one might overhear a solemn prayer to Vandria, the Lady of Grief, in the quiet hours of the night when the stars shine brightly in the sky.
Cinderwing, Nárawen in Elvish, and her twin brother Eldrilith were born to a small wood elven village deep within the Sylvan Glades. They never knew their father, and their mother was one of the last winged elves known as Avariel after most of her kind had retreated into the Feywilds following the encroachment of the civilized world upon the once untouched Sylvan Glades. One day however, she also disappeared. Whether she had at last followed her Avariel kin, was overtaken by wanderlust and left or something happened to her, no one knows. One day she was simply gone. When she left, she had left the still infant twins on the doorstep of Daith, a renowned elven warrior also known as Swordfather, who took them in.
Yet even in her mother’s absence there was a presence there, unseen, through a connection Nárawen shared with the birds and winged creatures of the forest. They were like family to her, and they saw a kindred spirit in her. Yet she was without wings and when her winged kin rose to the skies she could only look longingly to the sky above the treetops. Many nights she prayed to the Winged Mother, Aerdrie Faenya, for wings of her own so that she might join her kin soaring through the skies.
As a young adult, she would meet an elven druid named Skadi. It was love at first sight. With her, Nárawen would touch the sky for the first time riding on Skadi’s back while she had taken the form of a great eagle. To Nárawen, Skadi had, in a sense, been the answer to all her prayers. For on the back of Skadi’s wildshaped eagle form, Nárawen would finally soar through the skies. They were together for many years, and shared many adventures together. She was the love of Nárawen’s life.
This time of love and joy would however find its end when their village was attacked by the Humanity’s Guardians League, causing the death of many. Hometrees had been felled, and the bodies of both elves and humans lay scattered on the forest floor. Nárawen found Skadi at the end of the battle, where she died in her arms. At first, she was overcome by grief and wandered aimlessly, lost in the dark. While she had been a devout follower of the Winged Mother for most of her life, her grief would make way for a grim name would cross her lips - Vandria, the Lady of Grief. The elven goddess of grief, justice and war. Nárawen vowed to avenge her love and all of those who had died at the hands of the Humanity’s Guardians League. She spent the next few years fighting the encroachment of civilization upon her forest home with the Silvanic Sentinels, hoping to one day pierce the hearts of those who killed Skadi.
In darkness, I shall be light In times of doubt, I shall keep faith In throes of rage, I shall hone my craft In vengeance, I shall have no mercy In the midst of battle, I shall have no fear In the face of death, I shall have no remorse
