Church of Ukkonen
Feared by many the followers of Ukkonen are fearless warriors who look for any excuse to draw blood.
Structure
The church of Ukkonen has no central hierarchy with each congregation separate from other congregations. Each congregation is led by the strongest cleric.
Assets
Temples to Ukkonen tend to be grim fortress like constructions, usually decorated with a skull motif. They house her clergy and usually have a few rooms to loan to itinerant worshipers. In addition, they always have a hall where the ritual combats take place, usually with a statue of Ukkonen to oversee the proceedings. Shrines tend to have just an alter for offerings, and a place for worshipers to brawl.
Divine Origins
The worship of Ukkonen is most prominent in the Old Kingdoms, she is much less popular in the New Kingdoms, and the Frontier Lands. In those regions she is appeased more than worshipped. She is also popular amongst some of the barbarian tribes, as well as amongst the orcs who view her along with Asbu as their patron. To the orcs she is Virtina Tewra.
Worship
She is most popular amongst humans and orcs. Her followers tend to be warriors and berserkers. Worship takes the form of ritual combat, often barehanded but sometimes with weapons. Worshipers pair up and go at each other until one or both is unconscious then another pair will fight. While there is no set time for meetings they usually occur after dark or during storms.
Priesthood
Clerics of Ukkonen typically wear red robes over black plate mail. However some are known to forego armor altogether. Her clergy oversee services making sure each individual has an opportunity to fight. They also engage in ritual scarification carving praises to Ukkonen in their flesh.
