Annatow Forest
Near the eastern edge of the Frontier Lands the Annatow Forest is one of the largest expanses of woodland west of the Ethicter Forest. It has recently been annexed by the elven kingdom of Sarhólgahnúm.
Geography
Located in the Frontier Lands some distance from the Tågbaf Mountains the region is composed primarily of flatlands with a few low rolling hills.
Fauna & Flora
The forest is mostly oak and beech with a great number of ash and yew as well. There are also many larch, maple, sycamore, birch, alder, and poplar throughout. There isn’t much in the way of undergrowth as the forest is old with a thick canopy that blocks out most of the sun. The forest floor is covered with moss and ferns, and little else. The forest has its share of dangerous flora including assassin vines, mandragoras, quickwoods, scythe trees, shambling mounds, tendriculos, treants, twigjacks, viper vines, and yellow musk creepers.
In addition to the trees, and abundance of animal life calls the forest home, including badgers, dire badgers, bats, beavers, blink dogs, brown bears, dire bears, boars, deer, dire boars, bobcats, chipmunks, goblin dogs, donkey rats, foxes, frogs, hedgehogs, newts, panthers, rabbits, raccoons, salamanders, skunks, snakes, squirrels, toads, giant toads, turtles, wolves, dire wolves, and worgs. In addition to the terrestrial life plenty of avian life dwells in the forest such as owls, hawks, crows, thrush, herons, woodpeckers, hummingbirds, bluebirds and cardinals amongst others. Finally dangerous arthropods such as giant stag beetles, slicer beetles, house centipedes, titan centipedes, giant whiptail centipedes, giant mantises, giant scorpions, greensting scorpions, giant tarantulas, giant ticks, and giant wasps dwell throughout, as do their mundane siblings including ladybugs, various beetles, praying mantises, spiders, bees, and wasps.
[br[ In addition to the birds and beasts many other dangerous creatures dwell in the forest. Many goblinoids of different types haunt the woods. Along with the goblinoids can be found, aranea, centaurs, forest drakes, ettercaps, ettins, wood giants, kobolds, owlbears, and unicorns.
Elves from Sarhólghanúm have begun settling the forest and hunting out the evil creatures, along with the more dangerous vermin.
