Ethicter Forest

Stretching from the Aurinko Mountains in the north to the Esas Ocean in the south the Ethicter forest forms the eastern boundary of the Frontier Lands.

Geography

Much like the frontier lands the Ethicter forest is dotted with springs and lakes, there are even a few spots were standing water forms swamps. The northern reaches are dotted with rolling hills that increase in height the further north one travels until one reaches the forested foothills of the Aurinko mountains. As one travels south the land smooths out with changes in topography becoming less until one reaches the Esas Ocean. Numerous rivers cross the land generally flowing southward from the mountains to the ocean.

Fauna & Flora

In the northern reaches the trees consist primarily of norja spruce and caled pine with a smattering of silver fir and yojoki fir throughout. As one travels south the flora shifts from evergreen to deciduous trees with beech and oak predominating but with plenty of larch, ash, maple, sycamore, birch alder and poplar scattered in. The dense canopy of the forest prevents most undergrowth, though the forest is carpeted with ferns and moss. Water lilies are very common in the many lakes dotting the forest. Those are just the relatively safe flora. Dangerous flora includes assassin vines, mandragoras, quickwoods, scythe trees, shambling mounds, tendriculos, treants, twigjacks, viper vines, and yellow musk creepers.

There is an abundance of animal life in the forest ranging from tiny rodents to majestic elk and moose. Animals of the forest include: aurumvorax, badgers, dire badgers, bats, beavers, bison, blink dogs, brown bears, dire bears, boars, deer, dire boars, bobcats, chipmunks, goblin dogs, donkey rats, foxes, frogs, hedgehogs, megaloceros, megatherium, newts, panthers, rabbits, raccoons, salamanders, skunks, snakes, squirrels, tigers, toads, giant toads, turtles, wolves, dire wolves, and worgs Additionally in the northern reaches can be found: mastodons, winter wolves, wolverines, and dire wolverines. Flitting amongst the rafters of the forest can be found owls, hawks, crows, thrush, herons, woodpeckers, hummingbirds, bluebirds and cardinals. Dangerous arthropods like giant stag beetles, slicer beetles, house centipedes, titan centipedes, giant whiptail centipedes, giant mantises, giant scorpions, greensting scorpions, giant tarantulas, giant ticks, and giant wasps are fund throughout as are their mundane siblings like ladybugs, beetles, praying mantises, spiders, bees, and wasps

However, the forest also has it’s share of dangerous creatures other than animals as goblinoids of all sorts, particularly hobgoblins lurk beneath the forest canopy. In addition, aranea, centaurs, forest drakes, ettercaps, ettins, wood giants, kobolds, owlbears, and unicorns abound. There are even a handful of dragons that claim territories within the forest.

Natural Resources

The forest is naturally replete with lumber, and wild game of all sorts. Beyond that the resources have yet to be explored s there is plenty to use in the Frontier lands and dangerous creatures lurk in the forest.
