Larane
Larane of the Rising Sun
Larane’s life is defined by a singular, fierce devotion to the Order that saved her and her brother from the starvation that claimed their clan. While Dubak looked at the monastery as a refuge, Larane saw it as a rebirth. She didn't just join the Order of the Rising Sun; she became its most sharpened blade.Full Backstory
Where Dubak was often distracted by curiosity and the "what ifs" of the world, Larane was fueled by the memory of the cold. She remembers the exact moment the monks found them—the smell of the incense clashing with the scent of their dying kin. To her, the Order isn't just a school; it is the only reason she breathes. While Dubak spent his nights dreaming of the world outside, Larane spent hers in the Pillars of Radiance, perfecting her forms until her knuckles bled. When Dubak disappeared and returned with that strange iridescent scale and a tale of an "alien place," Larane didn't see a mystery to be solved—she saw a threat to their stability.
When Dubak chose to leave the monastery to chase the "ghost fish," Larane viewed it as the ultimate betrayal. She believes he is chasing a delusion that will lead him back to the same starvation and ruin they escaped as children. Now a Master of the Order, she remains in Skleara, her heart hardened by discipline, waiting for the day her brother realizes his mistake—or for the day the Order tasks her with "bringing him home" by force.
