Atarin (ɑ.'tɑ.rɪn)
Lie̯ kanis läy konui̯ut lös woi̯jau̯t lie̯ wydyos syi̯ del. ~ May the stars shine on the kingdom of the elves.
The Elven land of Atarin is to the east of Kyrant. To the North is the Great Forest of Cemrys, to the South the ocean, and to the East the Sunset Mountains and the Wilds beyond. The capital of Atarin is Almara.
Structure
Atarin is currently ruled by Queen Allotara Valkonen IV, who took the throne in 2891 when her mother stepped down. Second in power to the royal family are the four elven Lords. Each of the lords represents a title that is passed down through generations. Currently in the circle are Lord Alucard Duminair Ignatius VI, Lord Aquinus, Lord Aureneaus, and Lord Teltollus.
Culture
The elves of Atarin are largely divided into two political factions: one associated with the High Elves and the other with the Wood Elves. Since the time of the Great War, the high elves have adapted to life as part of the Alliance. With Kyrant to protect them, they are free to spend less of their time training an army and more time creating beautiful works of art, studying the arcane, and planting Wydwar trees. On the other hand, the wood elves look to Cemrys and remember how much larger the forest was before the war. Many of these elves would have their people return to the forest, use their knowledge and skill to renew it, and help it to return to its former glory.
Assets
In Atarin, the most powerful thing one can possess is knowledge. Swords and bows are useful, but only for those with the skill to wield them, and there is little that can compare to the might of magic. When the elves of Atarin rally for a cause, they can bring warriors, but those warriors are less likely to turn a battle than the mages who accompany them, or the scholars who stay behind.
