Marcada

Description

A village in the Deprin Dunes populated by the Yalvake. The village itself is fairly large but made of small tents and holes in the ground. The village does not have one main location but instead moves around the Deprin Dunes to avoid the Land Moversthat can bury the village if the Yalvake are not careful. The village is often on flat land and when the Wind Spotters predict a Land Mover will come the village begins the process of moving.

Homes and Buildings

The homes in the area are made out of small tents that cover the main floor and space is dug out under the tents for the Yalvake to sleep and retreat to during the night and when a Land Mover starts. Marcada is populated by mostly residential buildings since most work is done outside but a workshop and a meeting room are often set up in order to craft repairs on Sand throwers and other equipment that is needed to be repaired. The meeting room is used for the representatives to discuss problems and for any other meetings such as trade negotiations or some of the various competitions the Yalvake have.

Moving Marcada

When the Wind Spotters believe that a Land Mover is going to come soon the village will begin the process of moving to a new location. The village will pack all of tents and wrap them tightly around the Sand Throwers. The holes that were made for the homes will be cleaned out of any items within them and then left to be filled in by the Land Movers. Then the gear and supplies will be loaded into bags and carried by the citizens that are able to carry them. The citizens will then travel away from the direction the Land Mover is coming from until the land starts to become flatter. Depending on how in need of food the village is they may travel farther into the flat lands in order to gain more time before they have to move again, but if food is scare they will stop earlier in order to begin hunting again.
