The T.A.A.

The Tea Auditing Association also referred to as the T.A.A. They are in charge of assessing the tea farms, growers, pickers, processors, sellers and travelling merchants. Ensuring the tea products are the quality they claim to be.

Structure

Reporting to the King of the Aswarian Empire, they have a Head Auditor who has the Vice Auditor and the Primary Secretary working for them.  They have tutors who train the auditors and assessors who are responsible for checking applications to renew auditing license which happens (every 2 years).  They have inspectors who check the tea farms and tea rooms to ensure they are up to code.  They have travelling auditors who make sure The Tea Merchants of Yor are presenting products appropriately and in line with association guidelines. And that they are working for the interests of the industry, not for themselves.

Culture

The previous issues with tea not being properly preserved and making people ill caused the formation of the association. The public is grateful to know someone is there to protect their tea drinking rights.

Public Agenda

Good tea.

Assets

The original tea drinker had an establishment in Yor Town and was quite wealthy, so their position was voluntary. Tea farmers and merchants tried to pay them but ended up creating a fund which helped keep the tea drinker in food and necessities. So when they retired, they left their house and a large fund to ensure the continuation of the association. Nowadays, there are license fees for farms, tea houses, merchants, assessors etc. which help keep the association's finances fluid.

History

Tea was going bad on long journeys and there was no regulation over how to safely prepare tea both for travel and consumption. One particularly passionate tea drinker decided they were sick of having bad cups of tea so they took it upon themselves to travel to Yor and try to discuss the issues with the locals. Agreeing it was a bad look for the tea industry, the locals put this tea drinker in charge of quality assurance and so the associations predecessor of Tea Assessor (a role, rather than an organisation) was born. Over time there was too much tea for one person to assess, so more individuals were enlisted and the association itself was formed. Over time it has changed and evolved, but at the heart, they just want people to be able to have a good cup of tea.
