Priest of Ormälskare

The Theocracy of Formene is run by the Priests of Ormälskare. They have been ruling on behalf of the gods since the Ernesh Conflict. Since then the people believed that the gods would make their will known through their faithful.

Qualifications

Education begins at a young age. First taught literacy, strength and endurance, and life skills. The youth are raised

Career Progression

Most priests are rotated through the tasks so everyone has to try everything. A few show special talent so may specialise but mostly everyone pitches in.

• Teaching new initiates. Teachers of physical education, literacy, prophecy are crucial for training newcomers.
• Temple hands - who see to the day to day functioning of the temple including cleaning, cooking etc.
• Seekers who help the people seek the gods wills
• Judges - who help settle disputes
• The Prophets- who go and declare the words from the Triumvirate throughout the land. Traveling from town to town.
• Local priests-those who stay in a town for a year to seek the gods will for the local townspeople who can't travel or who have urgent matters that won't wait
• The Triumvirate is made up of the top three priests who seek the gods will for the land.

Payment & Reimbursement

The traveling priests receive food and accomodations wherever they go.  Because every family has a member there they all contribute food, clothing, drink or other items in honour of that person.

Other Benefits

Being taught literacy, logic and reasoning is a huge benefit. As is the respect from the people.

The priests seek the gods guidance for running the land and act as their mouthpieces. Sharing any new guidelines throughout the land.

Demographics

The second born child from each family is dedicated to the profession so it's seen as an honour but also a responsibility of each family to give up their child to the priesthood.

History

Initially just a few who believed they were called were in the priesthood, but after those priests saved lives by warning of the coming retribution of the gods, people started to put more faith in the position and coming to ask more questions. Due to increase in demand the priests sought guidance and the new decree was issued that every second born was to be brought to the temple once they were weaned and able to walk.

Workplace

The temple has side chambers with waiting areas so petitioners can wait while the priest speaks with the gods behind a screen.

Provided Services

The priests of Ormälskare are practicing spodamancers. They burn things and use the ashes to help understand the gods will.
They also use special incense created from desert mushrooms to help them communicate with the gods for a longer or more complicated matter.

The traveling branch of priests take great risks traveling the desert.
