The Light Blade

The Light Blade is composed of thin veins of trapped light that twist together like wrought iron into a frame-like shape of a sword. It is shaped loosely like a broadsword, but the thin lines composing the blade make it look delicate or even fragile. Though the blade has been a display piece for most of its existence, it can cut just as well as any metal sword, and is in fact more physically durable than steel. It currently resides in the Grand Museum on Raldmar, on loan from the private collection of a local wealthy entrepreneur.   The Light Blade was originally forged by the Daph'ara magic tower at the height of its power, early in the Epoch of Magic. By the standards of that day, it was an exceptional weapon, from the fine craftsmanship to the sheer beauty of the blade's design. It was gifted to a noble house by the head of the Daph'ara tower, and passed down the family line until that noble house collapsed several centuries later. The blade was then lost for some time, and only resurfaced around a century ago. It has been privately owned ever since.   The blade remains in the condition in which it was found a century ago. The handle was cleaned and polished for display, but the blade itself was left unchanged. It contains only a remnant of the magic it once held, the magic having faded over time. It's characteristic light grew dull, and it currently looks more like glowing glass than daylight trapped in solid form. The Grand Museum is currently researching a way to restore the blade to its former glory, but some enchantment restoration experts on staff at the museum worry recharging the blade incorrectly could break the ancient enchantment completely.
