Homebound Palace

Homebound Palace, as it is called in the common language, is located on Aikhulura. The palace is currently home to the royal family. It was constructed from parts of one of the great generation ships that led the Vishith to Aikhulura so long ago. The original name of the generation ship was Homebound, as it held the hope of the Vishith people for a new home.

Purpose / Function

Now home to the royal family of Aikhulura, Homebound Palace was constructed long ago from the remains of one of the generation ships that brought the Vishith to Aikhulura long ago. The vessel was the flagship, and carried the name "Homebound." In present times, palace grounds are also used for a variety of political functions. In fact, Homebound Palace is truly the heart of Aikhuluran politics.

Architecture

The palace's architecture resembles the style of ancient Vishith starships. With sweeping, sleek lines and a shining metallic body, it bears little resemblance to homes on other worlds. Aikhuluran Homes typically have a rounded shape to better weather the planet's superstorms. The ship Homebound was taken apart and the parts used to create the great rounded shape of the palace, and the ship's wings were used to form the palace's storm barrier, which is raised to protect the palace during storms. Inside the storm barrier also lies some of the most extensive gardens of non-native plant species on the planet.

History

Some legends claim the palace was built around the remains of the Vishith generation ship, Homebound, after it crash landed on the planet. Such claims are difficult to conclusively prove, but a number of past studies seem to indicate the positioning and nature of modifications to the palace over time would be consistent with results of a crash landing.
